HW is HP Envy DV6. I uninstalled Google Chrome due to spontaneous failure to connect to internet. Now I cannot download the instalation program to re-install it. I keep getting "Running security scan" which never ends. The install app is in my dl folder but it cannot be activated. I have Norton Internet Security installed. Did not have any problems instaling Chrome previously.

The problem is resolved. I suspect I had some system file corruptions. I rolled back to the last system version and retried the Google Chrome installation and it worked smoothly as expected. Problem solved and closed.

Hi,
Firstly NO HP machines come with Google Chrome or Firefox or something else, they all come with Internet Explorer. It was your choice to install, un-install and install it. Can you download from OTHER computer then install on your computer ? Which browser are you using now to download Chrome ?
Regards.

Yep, it was my choice to install Google Chrome. I was using IE to download the Google Chrome installer. I do not have an alternative machine to use for the download. Is there some incompatibility with Chrome running with Windows 8.1? It was running perfectly under 8.0. I attempted to install it using the Alternate (offline) Google Chrome Installer but whatever did get downloaded will not run.
