Pavilion notebook PC 15n249sl
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have tried to install this update 3 times and failed. I believe this is part of the ongoing problem with the windows 10 update to this particular HP product. Has anyone else had the same problem? From a Microsoft Tech, I understand that this model is still awaiting work on BIOS and drivers. See extract below of the conversation of 20.09.2015.

"One thing we could guarantee, there's no problem with the software itself. It's HP who hasn't tested your current make and model yet as it's obviously stated on their website. They might be claiming that your system is compatible but the BIOS Chipset and drivers of the machine have not been updated and tested yet." So why are we receiving an update which appears to be incompatible?????

Hi,

Where do you get that ? Please try the following one first:

    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp66501-67000/sp66956.exe

Drivers for your machine should be on the following link:

Regards.

This version appeared via my HP Support Assistant yesterday. I have to presume that compatible updates only appear there - but clearly that is not the case. So what on earth is happening? I'll try your suggestion. Thanks.  Just checked. I already have this version but still suffer from Power Off anf Sleep wakeup problems! I do wishe someone would take all this seriously!

Since the last attempt to update, the message has disappeared from HP Support Assistent. I should also point out that your link failed - giving me an error!

for windows 10 power off and LED still on porblem, you could not install Intel MEI driver 9.x with the setup wizard. You should extract sp62419 or other 9.x version of Intel MEI, then right click the Intel Management interface device in device manager-system device, select update driver, browser computer for driver, choose device list, click "have disk...", select

"where you extract sp62419"\Drivers\MEI\heci.inf to complete driver install.

Everything will flow.

Sorry but  am getting tired of endless assumptions that I am a nerd! I already have a 9.x version of Intel MEI - the problem was not that - it is that I have received an update via HP SUpport Assistant which is clearly NOT compatible, otherwise it would surely have updated without problems as other updates do. It is all very well giving sketchy instructions but for those of us who are not secure in doing these things manually, we have to rely on the wizard - and if that doesn't work???

Banhein - could you please explain something - if  I go toHP software and drvers what is indicated for my machine is this:

Intel High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver

10.18.15.4248 Rev.C 169.2 MB

Sep 19, 2015

and yet everyone is saying that  I should have a 9.x version (which I have). There seems to be a serious gap between what I am being offered by HP upon identification of my computer and what all the techs are suggesting. Can you explain what is going on???

@banhien

seems confusing, Intel High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver would have version

10.18.15.4256
10.18.15.4248

these are all good,

what I said about 9.x version is the Intel Management Engine interface (Intel MEI) driver.

If HP support assistant remind update for 10.x or 11.x versoin of Intel Management Engine interface (Intel MEI) driver, you should ignore it.

🙂

Everything will flow.
