My computer is a Pavilion dv7 6160sp. Windows 7 64

And I need intel graphics drivers for: PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0116

The one's HP provides in my computer's page are wrong. They are not for PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0116

That is not enough info.  Need the whole line...

Here is the copy of the setup information file from the driver on your PC's support and driver page, and that hardware ID is indeed present...

As I open the instaler:

DEVICES SUPPORTED:
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0126="Intel(R) HD Graphics Family"

My hardware ID:

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0116&SUBSYS_3389103C&REV_09
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0116&SUBSYS_3389103C
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0116&CC_030000
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0116&CC_0300

Unfortunately, I could not find a driver with that hardware ID from any HP notebook that has the same Intel second generation core processor family as yours does.

I checked at least 5 different drivers.  None of them have that specific ID.

HP Recommended

Ok.So what now?

Hi:

The only suggestion I can offer is to back up your files and do a factory recovery and see if that works.

IMO, something in the registry is corrupt and changed the ID of the graphics controller.

HP Recommended

If the registry is corrupt, it came corrupt. I did just that, in fact, more than once, recently. And it's always the same result.

HP Recommended

Then the only other suggestion I can offer is to try the drivers from Intel.

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=23377

Use the zip file. Extract it to a folder.

Then go to the device manager and click to expand the display adapters category.  Click on the standard VGA adapter.

Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update Driver.

Select the Browse my computer for driver software method and browse to the driver folder you unzipped.

Make sure the Include subfolders box is checked and see if the driver installs that way.

This driver setup information file does not have hardware ID's that go down to the tiny details.

Maybe it will install your device now.

I don't work for HP so there isn't anything else I can do to help.

HP Recommended

I found out what the problem is...

The problem is that your notebook has the AMD/Intel switchable graphics and the only graphics driver you can use is the one for the AMD graphics.

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-105178-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en...

This is a custom driver that installs the graphics drivers for both the AMD and Intel GPU's.

You can not separately update the drivers for either GPU.

That custom AMD switchable graphics driver is the only driver that will work.

Only installing AMD drivers rids my computer with blue screens concerning bad intel drivers. Very, very frequently, as in sometimes multiples times each day.
