I would like to know if my HP notebook is compatible with SSD drives. An Internet search turns up postings that say it can be done and others thay say my PC is not compatible with SSDs.
Following is some info on my setup.
My PC is an HP Pavillion DV6700 CTO Entertainment Notebook
I am running Windows 7
The PC came with Windows Vista
The BIOS is Hewlett-Packard F.58 6/16/2008
The processor is Intel Core Duo CPU T7500 @ 2.20 GHz, 2201 Mhz, 2 Cores, 2 Logical Processors
The new SSD is a Samsung EVO 850 SSD.
1) Is my PC compatible with SSDs?
2) Are there any BIOS updates or software settings I need to be aware of?
Thanks for any advice.

Yes it is a fully SATA-native (ahci) system and an SSD will work fine. With Windows 7 the OS will know it is an SSD and enable TRIM and other optimizations for the SSD. It will be a slower SATA version than on curent models but you still will benefit greatly from an SSD. You will want to update the BIOS on that model but not because of the SSD. There are quite a few fairly important BIOS updates for that model that correct some initial hardware issues like fan operation and resume from suspend.

Thank you for this answer on the SSD.
Can you tell me where to find the BIOS update? Maybe provide a link to the specific file or page?
I looked on the HP website and it does not show any BIOS updates for my laptop running Windows 7. This may be because my laptop shipped with Windows VISTA and I later upgraded to Windows 7. Below is a screenshot from the HP website of the most recent BIOS - BUT THIS SAYS IT IS FOR XP AND VISTA.
I have read many warnings about the dangers of installing an incorrect BIOS so I want to be certain to get the right update.
Thanks again for your help.
