Hello,

I have an HP Pavillion g6 laptop

Product #: A6Z75UA#ABA

A few days ago my laptop's keybopard started to act up. Instead of typing it would go to shortcuts. I went online to see what could be causing this and found that it could be sticky keys. I did what it said i opened up the on-screen keyboard and it was not the "ctrl" key nor the "shift" key. I tried re-starting my computer and it did not help. So what i noticed was that when i had the on-screen keyboard, that is when it would let me type, but if i closed it, it would go back to going to shortcuts.

If anyone knows what might be going on please help me out, I need my laptop for school and it is quite annyoing to have to oepn the on-screen keyboard. Also, after a while of having the on-screen keyboard the typing stops and it goes back to the shortcuts. I have to leave the laptop alone for a while and then come back to continue my work.

Any suggestions or ideas please let me know.

Please help!!!!

Sandra

Hi Sandra86,

Welcome to the HP forum!

I understand that you are experiencing an issue with the keyboard.  Here is a link to Notebook Keyboard Troubleshooting (Windows 7) that should help you resolve this issue. You can also try MS Fix It, to resolve issues.  Please let me know if you would like further assistance.

Did all and still does not work. Anything else I can do?

1) I tired re-booting.

2) I tried updating the BIOS

3) I tried uninstalling all the Keyboard and Mouse software from device manager and re-installing them using the HP Recovery Manager.

5) I tried a system restore to factory settings.

None of these options have worked.

My keyboard still will not type, I have to use the on-screen keyboard to type

Good Morning Sandra86,

Thank you for your reply, I regret that you are still experiencing the shortcut issue with your keyboard,

I understand you have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers and you did a factory recovery and have updated the bios, but the issue remains.

When you did the restore did the keyboard work?

I would try doing a clean boot to determine the cause.  Perform a clean startup to determine whether background programs are interfering with your game or p....

Please let me know the results if you would like further assistance.
