Hello, my keyboard types extra characters when I use certain keys.

I am sure it is not numlock.

The keys are:

t  y  5  6  \  [  ]  -

and the Tilde key makes a huge space in notepad. but it is one character.

Here's what they do:

T - t5

Y - y6

Backslash - ]\

Brackets -   [-   .   ]\

Minus(Dash) -    [-

Again, it's an HP Pavilion G6 Laptop.

Hi

Please find the link given below might help you to resolve your issue.

Incorrect Characters are Displayed when Using Keyboard

Also please uninstall the driver using device manager then update the Bios & Keyboard driver from HP Website. Incase this does not work please check in command propmt if the keyboard works fine if you have the same issue please replace the keyboard.

Let us know how it goes!

I already did all this with the BIOS, tried language, all of the stuff on that page. Also, I tried using a cotton swab to clean it out.

And it is *EXTRA* characters.

Not replacement characters.

like, if I t5vy6mped like t5his, it5v would look like t5vhis.

Edit: The spacebar, comma M, f2, c, x, z and TAB buttons are now affected.

it's as if when I hit one, it hits the other as if it's hitting a key on a separate keyboard.

for example;
x presses F5 which opens my browser.
z presses the Tilde key.
tab with apostrophe
comma with backslash
c with F2
minus with forwardslash
Spacebar with the other backslash

and vice versa.

Since i cannot find an edit button, the T & Y keys are now unaffected after hours of lifting it, blowing under it and patting the bottom of the laptop.
