The power cord to my laptop has frayed and is causing electrical sparks when I try to plug it in. I need to replace the power cord and can not find anyone at HP who can help with obtaining a replacement. I have used the HP parts replacement web page and no results are retrieved as well as the online live chat with someone trying to tell me an incorrect part# that costs $50. A power cord DOES NOT cost $50. The cord is LS-18 7A-125V Longwell E55349.
Does anyone know if a generic LS-18 7A-125V cord would work as a replacement? I found one on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00I4ZPD00/sr=8-1/qid=1421728717/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me...
Not sure it will work...if anyone has any insight - please let me know.
Thanks!

That one appears to be branded as HP. Should work even if not authentic as long as specs are the same.
