HP EliteBook 8570p Base Model Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi all, my first post here but this is a serious issue that is impacting my experience with my laptop. In the recent days, my HP EliteBook 8570p has failed to boot past the HP Logo screen, where I am left with lights going and blinking as per usual, but a blank screen with no response from the laptop. What I have discovered is that if I close the lid, remove the battery, open the lid, hold down the power button for 15 seconds or so, close the lid, put the battery back in, open the lid, and press the power button, the laptop starts perfectly fine. It also operates as it would normally.

I have to note that it is this EXACT process that allows the laptop to initialise, boot and log into Windows 10. No variation is possible to allow the laptop to boot correctly. I am truely lost for ideas about troubleshooting this issue, or even establishing a fault within my laptop.

I'm happy to provide any other information regarding the laptop specs or situation. Thanks all!

Hi, try this procedure writted by another person of another post:

Turn off the computer.

o Disconnect the computer from any port replicators or docking stations.

o Disconnect all peripheral devices, such as USB storage devices, external displays, or printers.

o Disconnect the AC adapter from the computer.

o Turn the computer over and look for the battery compartment door to determine whether or not your computer's battery is removable.

o Now to consume any residual electrical charge from the capacitors protecting the memory, perform the following as it is the basics of this:

If you see an access door to the battery compartment, your equipment has a removable battery. Remove the battery, press and hold the power button for 15 seconds, reinsert the battery back into the compartment and proceed to the next step.

If you do not see any access door to the battery compartment, your computer does not have a removable battery. On most laptops with a non-removable battery, press and hold the power button for 15 seconds to complete the restart and proceed to the next step.

1. Reconnect the AC adapter to the computer, but do not connect any peripheral devices.

2. Turn on the computer.

If a startup menu opens, use the arrow keys to select Start Windows normally and then press enter.

3. Once the peripheral devices are connected, run Windows Update and HP Support Assistant to update all drivers and the system.

Hi there, unfortunately that is not information that can help me, as that is literally the steps I've already documented and taken to attempt to troubleshoot my laptop. What I am trying to understand is why this issue is present and what steps I can take to mitigate it.

Ok
