Laptop Fan not increasing speed

I was having very bad heating problems with my pc it would tend to go off all the tkme when it overheated, i decided to blow into the fan and dust came out. It continued to work perfectly untill last night when it continued to overheat, I checked on the Internet and I found I just had to clean the fan so I opened up my laptop this morning and cleaned the fan. But now the fan will not speed up if the temperature is high before it would and make horrible noises, now the fan is on but does not changes its speed when the cpu is heating!I have tried alot of freeware that increases the fan speed but the fan cannot be detected, but the fan is still on and idle. I opened up the laptop 3 times to check if everything was connected and they are but what could be the issue?? Please help my laptop is my life at the moment.

Hey I also forgot to mention, I removed the thermal grease and didnt appliy anymore could that also be part of the problem, I just followed the YouTube video and removed the grease not sute if you jabe to apply some back to replace it.

I replaced the thermal grease but the fan will still not speed up!?

What's your CPU/GPU temperature?

Is it still shutting down automatically?

And yes, you should ALWAYS use thermal grease, and replace old thermal grease EVERY time you remove the heatsink, without fail. If you don't, you run the risk of permanent damage.

Well the CPU temperature with start to go up to about 170-180 farenhiet before it just shuts down, before my laptop fan would go into a frenzy before it overheats. Now it just stays idle not increasing speed, what could be causing this?

180F is 82C.

Most laptops won't shut down at 82C, but nevertheless, this is an extremely high temperature, and it should make the fan spin at maximum.

This could be

1> A loose cable. Since you have re-assembled the computer, it's likely a cable is loose inside. If you have the required tools, patience, and expertise, I'd suggest take the laptop apart and re-assemble it once more. It's not just the fan cable that matters, some other cable might trigger this problem as well - i once had an issue where a flex connector near the touchpad was loose, and the fan would spin at maximum speed, then the notebook would shut down. Turning it back on would display a message saying that the notebook was shut down to prevent heat damage, but the noteboot was not heating up at all. I connected the cable properly (this required a full tear-down lol), and the computer has never done this again, it's been 6 months.

2>If step 1 fails, it's likely that the fan itself has failed. Replace the fan.

But something tells me it's not the fan, as this behavior started after you opened up the computer, strongly suggesting a loose cable.

I guess I could open it up again and try looking it see if anything is loose, I hope i can fix it because a laptop is really essential in this day and age. If that's not the case I will probably just take it to a computer specialist near me and hope for the best!

What did u used to ''blow dust from outside'' ?

Yeah I used to blow from the outside, it was quite help full. I took it to get fixed but the guy failed to fix it as well he said he tried to change CPU and RAM but nothing happened so I gave up. I bought a external hard drive case amd a second hand Hp Pavilion Dv6, I thought my lapt would lasy forever it was a good model just didnt take care of it right. I still have faith in HP products and will soon buy a new laptop from them again!
