Hi,

I have an hp pavillion g6 laptop (Product QE05UA#ABA, Model: g6-1c35dx)
. For a while its been causing problems, it's been slow, showing viruses, and now it wont start up.

I left it on sleep mode last night, once i opened it up today it was turned off. I figured it lost battery which usually doesnt happen, but I turned it on and it shows a blinking screen that comes on and then turns black, over and over. the blinking screen shows "press esc key for startup menu".

Also, the caps lock key blinks once when that screen comes on.
When I push "esc" it shows this:

F1 system info
F2 system diagnostics
F9 boot device options
F10 bios setup
F11 system recovery
Enter- continue startup

I've tried them all, including some tests in "bios setup"

Dont know much about computers, and this is one that i need so help is greatly appreciated.

Good Morning @Mike1994r ,

Thank you for your reply,

I see you were able to run the tests and do a recovery but the issue remains, I suspect a hardware issue.  As you were unable to locate the issue from the tests, I suggest contacting HP support for assistance.

Hi @Hp222 ,

Welcome to the HP Forums!Smiley Happy

It is a terrific place to find answers.
For you to have the best experience in the HP forum I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide Learn How to Post and More

I grasp that your system has been slow and showing viruses but now it will not start. When you attempt to start up you notice the light by the Caps lock blinks once.

Here is a link to Computer does not start and the LEDs blink or the computer beeps.  One blink usually signifies the CPU as you will notice in the document

Here is the HP Pavilion G6 Notebook PC Maintenance and Service Guide, please note page 9 for a list of recommended CPUs for your system.

I hope this helps.

Hi @Sparkles1
Thank you for your response.
I followed the first document and did a test for BIOS (held down the windows key and B key..) and the computer turned on and went and did a test automatically and afterwards restarted. When it restarted though, it went right back to the flashing screen. If it is a CPU problem, what caused this?
The notebook was working fine and I had just removed the viruses as well when this issue occurred. For some reason it seems like a lot of people have these problems with HP products. Some even just like mine (had viruses, working slow, etc?)

I would always start with pressing f2 and do both memory and hard disk checks.
If both pass i would do a system recovery assuming you have a recovery image.

I've done both and I've done a system recovery but it goes back to that same flashing screen
