So I replaced a cracked screen on a laptop, it was working fine before the replacement, just couldn't see most of the screen. Got eveything lined up and looking good, but it won't power on with the battery or the power cord. Tried removing the battery, disconnecting the power and holding the power button down, the reconnecting the power cord, but nothing. The power supply is good because the LED by the charger port lights up when plugged in. The LED light does seem to pulse every few seconds, and the only other discernible response from the unit is that whenever the LED will pulse, there's a small "psh" sound blip from under the keyboard. Otherwise, nothing. Any help would be appreciated, even in just a diagnosis.

Also, the model is a HP dv6 1334us.

I understand that everything was working, but the screen required replacement.  You replaced the display and now it will not boot, but the led blinks and makes a noise.   Here is a link to the HP Pavilion dv6 Entertainment PC Maintenance and Service Guide, please note page 24 item 1 for the recommended displays and page 64 for instructions.

Here is a link to Computer Does Not Start and the LEDs Blink or the Computer Beeps to assist you.

You can run a diagnostic to test the hardware. On startup press the F10 key approximately once every  second, this should get you to the bios screen to run tests.

But I can't run a diagnostic to test the hardware, because it will not power on. The LED blinking by the cherger port doesn't so much as blink off and on and it pulses dimmer and brighter. Otherwise, there is almost no response from the laptop.

Hi RZguy06,

Thank you for your reply.

I grasp that the computer will not power up to do the diagnostics.  Here  are  links to documents to assist you. Using and Testing the AC Power Adapter and Computer Does not Start (Windows 7, Vista, XP).  If neither of these options has provided results it may be the new display causing the issue, as it worked fine until you replaced it. If you disconnect the new display and reconnect the original display does it power up?

Hey, I have the EXACT same problem and I was just wondering if you found a solution. Replaced the screen, laptop won't start. The power on light just kinda studders on and off with no particular pattern. No sound of the fan, no blinking lights. The AC Adapter seems to be working fine because the light by the plug turns on when I plug it in. The battery was just working fine as well, and I've tried the whole "hold the power button for 15 seconds with the battery out" thing with no luck. I find it kind of irritating that the HP Support person just gave you useless links that obviously weren't going to solve the problem.

As you just replaced the display before you received the ESD(electro static discharge) purge not working error, it is most likely a bad connection some place.

Good Luck!
