I have a hp notebook, product number: WA912UA#ABA
Product name: HP G62 Notebook PC
Problem: I have had this computer for a few years now, and there have been many problems with the cooling system. At first the pc would just run quite hot all the time, and after a while i just got used to it. Fan speed would increase, but it wouldn't do much at all to help. Now the fanspeed just stays at a low speed all the time. no matter what the temperature of the computer is and it causes many problems. my pc was suposed to come with HP Coolsense, or Hp Thermal Assistant at the time. The problem with the fan speed not increasing is that the computer gets so hot that i can burn myself on it, there is nothing in the vents and it is on a hard surface with plenty of area's where air can get though it. it has even overheated on a laptop cooling pad before. All I want out of this is some way to manuially controll my fan speed, just to put it up to max, or at least higher than idle. I have tryed many programs, but none of them work due to HP locking out the ability. Please get me something that will work on my pc so that i can controll the fan speed, and stop it from melting itself!

TheSavageOne,
Maybe one day a BIOS update will be released to allow the manual adjustment of the fan. You can try blowing out the heatsink and fan if you feel comfortable with doing that. Here is the Maintenance and Service guide for your computer and on page 4-41 gives you the steps of how to get to the fan and heatsink.
Hope this is helpful.
Thanks

Hello TheSavageOne,
You state your laptop gets pretty hot, is that correct? I will try to help you with this.
The only way to control the fan is just disabling and enabling in the BIOS. HP Coolsense and HP Thermal Assistant do not provide the options to manually adjust the speed of your fan. Currently I am not aware of a 3rd party program that gives you access to manually let you control the fan.
Not sure if you have seen this document but it is based on reducing the heat within a laptop.

TheSavageOne,
Sorry for the late response, I have been out of the office. But that is great news, if you have any further questions don’t hesitate to ask.
Have a great day.
