If "Airplane Mode" is still an issue, AND assuming you have a viable (usable network) to which you can connect, then the following might be helpful in context:

Airplane Mode in Windows 10

Try the suggestions in order.

If no joy:

Of interest, the section: Airplane Mode switch is stuck, grayed out or not working

Option:

2]  Maybe something is interfering with its functioning. Restart Windows 10. Do not log in. At the login screen, you will see a Wi-Fi icon in the lower right side of your screen. Click on it and see if you can turn on/off Airplane Mode.

This same solution is mentioned in this Thread as having been successful - perhaps it will work for you, too.

Good Luck.

Being impatient and not getting a response, I signed up for HP support. Spent over 2hours on phone. The tech gave up saying he would call in 15 to 20 minutes. That was about 5 pm cdt. At 8 am the following morning, I remembered that 1 of the screens that he took me to many times had an option to restore the system. I did that and it works fine now. Thank you for your responce.

Excellent; I am glad you have resolved the issue.

Using System Restore can help "undo" whatever caused an issue in the first place.

For future reference, know that you can manually create your own Restore Points.  You might want to do this before you make changes -- for example, installing a new program, updating installed software, or making changes to the Operating System.

Create a Restore Point: System Restore XP OR System Restore W7 OR System Restore W8-W10

Stop all programs:  Browsers, games, Applications, etc.

Control Panel > icon view > System > System Protection

Click (Highlight) your main disk (C) > Select Create a Restore Point

Happy Computing!
