- Line-In to a combo audio jack?

my notebook has a combo audio jack and i want to use my notebook's integrated speakers for listening to any external music playing devices (like smartphone, portable music player or record player, cassette deck etc.)
the integrated speakers work normally when nothing connected to this jack. (the integrated mic works normally and the integrated speakers work normally.
there's no problem as well when i connect my mobile phone's combo earphone+mic device with a TRRS (3 line/4-pin 3.5 mm male) connector to this jack and i can use it in videoconferences or teleconferences. it means that when i connect it to the combo jack on my notebook, the only audio output is from this combo earphone+mic, not from the integrated speakers, and the only audio input is from this combo earphone+mic device, not from the integrated mic.
But, when i connect an external music source to this jack using a TRS (2 line/3-pin 3.5 mm male) connector, it is still detected PHYSICALLY by the DTS audio control panel (there's a message in the down right taskbar button) but not detected by the recording tab of the control panel's

Hi,
You can't use it as line-in and in many cases it won't support a stand alone microphone, You can use headsets which have mic+headphones.
