I hear this all the time. I have mod'ed my dv9000 and had to reflow my nvidia chip with a pen touch, twice. The best way to control the fan is to re-code the BIOS ACPI DSDT code that controls the fan. I've done this and it really works. The way to make the fan more responsive is to have the code return a higher temperature for the _TMP method that reports the CPU temperature. I added 20 C to the returned amount and now my fan increase nicely like when I'm playing games. The GPU never gets above 58 C. Unfortunately my mobo uses an Intel chipset somy code is different than yours but I have read others doing this on AMD chipsets. Have a look at this site (http://notebookequus.blogspot.com/2008/09/patching-dsdt-table.html). There are replies from DV6000 users.
