Hello everyone!
I intend to "upgrade" to Windows 64bit from the current 32bit that I'm using. The reason is that I need more RAM.
However, I don't understand the max. RAM supported by my laptop. Can you please translate this to me:
MEMORY Standard DDR3L SDRAM (1600 MHz/1333 MHz)* One SODIMM slot supporting single channel* SODIMMs Standard memory up to 8192MB Maximum Upgradeable to 8192 MB with optional 8192 MB* SODIMM in slot 1 * Maximum memory speed supported is 1600 MHz, but it will be downgraded to 1066 MHz for systems running the Celeron N2815 processor. NOTE: Due to the non-industry standard nature of some third-party memory modules, we recommend HP branded memory to ensure compatibility. If you mix memory speeds, the system will perform at the lower memory speed. *Maximum memory capacities assume Windows 64-bit operating systems or Linux.
I really can't tell if 8 Gb is the max. or if I can put 8 Gb in each slot.
Thank you!

Hi,
Information is for MANY models/products and depending on the REAL specs of your laptop model/product. Service manual says:
1 or 2 customer-accessible/upgradable memory module slots (depending on model)
DDR3L-1600-MHz Dual Channel Support
DDR3L-1333-MHz Dual Channel Support (DDR3-1600 downgrade to DDR3-1333)
DDR3L-1066-MHz Dual Channel Support (DDR3-1600 downgrade to DDR3-1066)
Supports up to 8 GB of system RAM in the following configurations:
● 8192-MB total system memory (8192×1) or (4096×2)
● 6144-MB total system memory (4096×1 + 2048×1)
● 4096-MB total system memory (4096×1) or (2048×2)
● 2048-MB total system memory (2048×1
More cofusion isn't it. Please use the following site to scan your machine. It will tell you exactly what you need and where to buy or you can also use the information to buy elsewhere:

Thank you very much for your answer!
I've tried the scan from Crucial and it says that I can upgrade up to 16Gb. However, you reported that I can have 8Gb maximum in two different configurations (8x1, 4x2).
Also the scan from Crucial indentifies my laptop as a "Compaq 15", while instead I have a 250 G3 (model with the i5-4200u).
It's indeed confusing.
Thank you again for your help.

Hi,
I think Crucial is right about RAM. The 250 G1 laptops support 8GB and the 250 G2 laptops support 16GB.

Your machine is a 250 G3 using normal Intel CPU (not bay trial) therefore 16GB could be the max.
Regards.

Quick update!
I decided to go with your recommendations and I ordered 8Gb of RAM from Crucial. This way I could have 8+4=12Gb of RAM (I know it is not ideal to mix different sizes but I will try anyway).
After ordering I still decided to better check if actually the HP 250 G3 would support 16Gb of RAM. I installed PCWizard (which I recommend) and it told me that my motherboard did support 16Gb of RAM. Then I also installed SiSoftware Sandra and this time it said that the support was for 32Gb, which I believe to be quite difficult to be true.
banhien thank you for your help and time!
