Can I have  a 4gb ram stick and an 8gb ram stick for a total of 12 gigs in hp 584037-001?

I understand you would like to know if your system will support 12GB of ram, in the  configuration of 1x4 + 1x8.

 

 What you stated for your product number is incorrect.  Here is a link to assist you in locating the correct model.  HP Notebook PCs - How Do I Find My Model Number, Serial Number or Product Number?  Once you have responded with your precise model, I will happily try to locate that information for you.
