I downloaded and installed all the drivers for my product - HP ENVY 15t-j000 Quad Edition (E4T17AV) - and it still shows a Missing PCI Simple Communications Controller Driver. Can someone point me in the right direction please?

The hardware ID is

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_8C3A&SUBSYS_1963103C&REV_04
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_8C3A&SUBSYS_1963103C

Nope.

That is probably why it isn't installing.

The driver is designed for RAID configurations.

I know it won't install in IDE mode, but I was unsure of AHCI mode.

If you want the latest AHCI driver for your setup, you can get it directly from Intel at the link below.

First file listed.

Download and extract to a folder.  Then do the manual update method by going to the device manager and click to expand the IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers category.  Click on the SATA AHCI controller listed.  Click on the driver tab, click on update driver, select the browse thing again and browse to the folder you extracted the drivers to.

Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked and the updated driver should install.

I've tried that already, I get a message saying 'This computer does not meet the minimium requirements for installing the software'

Google the hardware ID, and you will see that is the driver you need.

Try installing it manually so you bypass the gatekeeper telling you the system doesn't meet the requirements.

Go to the device manager, and click on the PCI Simple Comms Controller needing the driver.

Click on the driver tab. Click on Update Driver.

Select the Browse My Computer for Software method, and browse to the installation folder that was created when you ran the file.

That folder will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp61266.

Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked and see if the driver installs that way.

If not, then HP has posted the wrong driver for the version of the IMEI your notebook has.

If your notebook has an Intel 4th generation processor, then see if this IMEI driver works.

Thanks, that worked. Running into thr same error message when I try and install the intel rapid start technology driver as well. Any ideas?

You're very welcome.

You can try the same thing with that driver.

You really don't need that software/driver unless the drive controller is set to RAID, and you have a solid state drive.

I do have an ssd but no raid, do I still need it?
