My Laptop Screen won't turn on upon start up

Hi.
My problem is slightly different from the others. I'm not exactly sure what model my laptop is, but it is Windows 8.1 When I turn on my laptop, the laptop starts up, but the screen lights up a bit and that's it. It doesn't do anything after. So please help me!!

I had the problem where my screen went black after logging in to my laptop and I selected to refresh the laptop but it now says "the drive where Windows is installed is locked. Unlock the drive and try again. " what do I do?

I am having the same problem but when I push the caps lock it doesn't illuminate. Please help

I turn my laptop on.... I can hear fans and the power lite and internet lite illuminates but not the caps lock when pushed. I have had this problem once before but it turned back on after I reset it several times but this time it's not working. I've tried the suggestion listed on this page and none have worked. Still isn't turning on....

which i press switch on button .firstly light glows white and then caps lock key glows white and laptop does not open.i am very confused and angry.i have brought it recently .only 1 day it goes right and then it does not work. is HP at this extend is bad??

My problem is similar. The screen on my hp pavillion intermittenly goes blank while the keyboard stays lit. The only way around the problem is to reboot. I'm not as stupid as some people want me to think because it's not a settings issue.
