HP Chromebook 11 G8 Education Edition
Chrome OS

It had a very small impact fall and it was working fine for 2-3 hours then it just turned to a black shining screen and I pressed the refresh button and turned it off completely and it has never turned on again no matter what I tried even searching how to powerwash it didn't work. What should I do?

Hi @tina164,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble turning on your HP Chromebook. Let's try a few troubleshooting steps to see if we can resolve the issue.

  • Check the power adapter: Ensure that the power adapter is properly connected to both the Chromebook and a working power outlet. Try using a different power outlet or a different power adapter, if available, to rule out any issues with the power source or the adapter itself.
  • Perform a hard reset: Disconnect the power adapter and any other peripherals (such as USB devices) from your Chromebook. Then, press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds. Afterward, reconnect the power adapter and try turning on your Chromebook again.
  • Check the battery: If your Chromebook has a removable battery, make sure it is properly seated in its compartment. If the battery is non-removable, proceed to the next step.
  • Reset the Chromebook's hardware: On the bottom of the Chromebook, you'll find a small hole labeled "Reset." Use a paperclip or a similar object to press and hold the reset button for about 10 seconds. Release the button and try turning on your Chromebook.
  • Check for signs of life: When you press the power button, check if any lights or indicators on the Chromebook turn on or flash

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
