Laptop froze and I manually closed same but then the HP updates are repeating themselves and the laptop does not take the updates.

Open Windows Update by clicking the Start button
. In the search box, type Update, and then, in the list of results, click Windows Update.

Its because whenever an update fails (windows update will attempt it a lot till is sucess)
In order to stop this, you may want to go to windows update in your control panel, select the updates you have problem with and right click hide update.

Microsoft can't always check if you computer is compatible, besides it's the Micrsoft computer that checks the compatbility.
There no way for a human to be 24 hours with more than a lot billions computers to check compatibility.
