is the laptop battery dead.    if the battery is still charged and the laptop does not turn on still then the problem most likely is a bad dc power jack    I thought the hp jacks were durable but there are many contacts inside the when the right contact is worn or damage ...the laptop ac cord will not charge the battery or turn the laptop on.  u may have been lucky for that one week to have it work coincidentally with change out of the cmos battery     but not really sure why it worked after that fix.

Followed instructions from other submissions - removed battery - waited - reinserted battery - notebook worked.  Thank you.

as the problem with ria1 that the power doesn't on after pressing the power button,

if caps lock key is blinking for consecutive three times after pressing the power button

this is the problem of RAM loose

if so then do remove you RAM from your laptop and then reconnect if properly after cleaning it with a smooth and dust free cloth.

it will surely work

but if anyone of you have some idea of the problem occuring with my laptop then please do suggest

Thanks! This worked but terribly nerve racking.

count yourself lucky....it is very odd that so many HP laptops require owners to take these unusual necessary steps to recover use of their laptops.   seems like HP would stand behind their products and recall them all for a fix or an exchange for one that has the fix installed.

sure hp must recall

I myself deassembled and reassembled each and every part of my laptop used every tips and tricks in my mind but it didn't work

can't understand what to do now

Hi all,

I have a HP Pavilion, Product F4T62EA#ABU, Windows 8.

I have similar issues to others, although without the solutions working!

My battery once ran out, then when I next came to charge it, the light that indicates it is charging, did not come on.

The light on the charger did come on (and still does).   However, the laptop will no turn on.  I tried taking the battery out and turning it on by holding for 30 seconds.  I've also tried an alternative charger just to be sure, but to no avail.

However, whilst it does not swtich on, a small section low down on the underneath of the laptop does still become warm when the charger is plugged in.  (just to the right of the section you can unscrew and open up - apologies for my very basic explanation.)

Unfortunately, I have had the latop for over 2 years now, so no warranty.  (Plus i'm in a different country now anyway, typically!)

Does this sound like something that is in someway resolvable for me?  There's plenty of pop-up tech shops nowdays that I could take it to, but not entirely sure I trust them.

Thanks for any help or guidance.

hmmm interesting symptoms you note.   if you are not getting any fan noise and no lights on at all on your ,,,keyboard your problem sounds very different from on all others.   plus your motherboard or something is still getting warm when plugged in ,,even stranger ....

and you shut it down normally on last use.    maybe some real motherboard issue or video chip related.  most hp or all laptops are poorly cooled and suffer from overheat issues.

last thing you might try is to reset the cmos circuit by removing the cmos battery,if you can find it. with laptop battery removed and ac cord removed ,,then hold power button down for a minute     ...let sit another half hour   then reinstall cmos battery and main battery and see if that makes any difference...report back with results.  just a suggestion on something to try

Thanks for the advice.

I will give that a go tomorrow morning and let you know how it goes.

The overheating is a real possibility.  I was sat outside in 40degree heat the last time I was using it.  Obviously not the smartest move...

I removed the cmos battery and following your advice, but no positive signs unfortunately. (those mini screws are a real bitch!)

Is the best course of action to take it to a laptop repair store?  Or is likely just dead?
