Hi, I have an hp pavilion dv6 that won't turn all the way on. I tried the whole take out battery/unplug ac adaptor/power button method, but basically when I turn my laptop on, you hear the fan and see the lights on the keyboard but the screen remains blank and the computer never actually makes the noises of a full boot.

I have a Windows 8 HP Notebook, and I'm not sure of the common name of the device, but the product number and the model number are as follows:
Product: E2B54UT#ABA
Model: 255 G1U45000MQX320NXNC04Da
The laptop belongs to a friend who spilled coffee on it, and then panicked, throwing it across the room, and causing the battery to fall out. I offered to fix it for her.
The problem I'm experiencing it that the laptop simply will not turn on. The small LED that turns on when the power cord is plugged in turns on, but the power button will not light up when I press it, nor will anything else. I've tried everything from removing the battery and holding the power button, and it swill not work. Please try to help as soon as possible.

My laptop was working fine....I shut it down and when I tried to turn it back on again the fans turn on the power light comes on but the caps lock light blinks and monitor won't turn on. This is the first problem I've had with my laptop. I haven't downloaded anything new or installed anything....and I did try the hard reset 3 times and it still won't work. Help please!!!

I have the same problem with a Pailion dv6426. At first, it would only boot to BIOS, and wasn't reading the hard drive at all.

Okay, if all it needs is a new hard drive, that's easy. I installed a new hard drive, and it posted and I got a screen message that it was lookign for a start file. I put the Windows install disk into the drive and rebooted. Windows seemed to be installing, but suddenly, the computer just went dark. Everything turned off at once. I had to use the paper clip trick to get the Windows disk back out of the drive.

The computer simply will not power up at all. No flashes, no beeps, no fan, no lights except for the AC adapter connection, no nothing. I have tried removing the hard drive, removing the battery, removing the RAM, unplugging the adapter, holding down the power button, then putting everything back in, and the computer does not respond at all. It's as if the power button were dead. I even unplugged the CMOS battery for a few minitues in the hope of resetting  it, but again, nothing.

I have tried with the battery and and out, and get nothing.

I know by now that Pavilions are infamous for this kind of failure, but still have no clue what caused it and why it won't respond to any of the attempts to reset it. The HP web site is absolutely useless, and there is no support at all for this model.

Does anyone have any ideas? Is there a lock button somewhere? Or is this expensive piece of junk just toast?

I have tried this process but it is now working. I have an HP Pavilion dm1 that runs Windows 7 and today when I tried to turn it on it never would. The battery says it's fully charged and the power supply works. It is 3 years old and the CT number on the battery is 6BPY05AX0G9G5
