@plugs139
You could try...
- Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Power Options
I'm currently on HP recommended, Just depends which you want.
- Click 'Change Plan Settings' and fiddle with some stuff in there.
OR
Go to Control Panel and in the address bar put this...
- Control Panel\System and Security\System
- Click 'Device Manager' on the Left.
- Go to 'Display Adapters' (dropdown list)
- Double click the AMD
- Go across to the 'Driver' tab
- Click 'Update Driver' > 'Search automatically for updated driver software'
Then explore the options it gives you, and see if anything needs updating.
Let me know which works!
Hope this helped.

This did NOT help my problem
This is not the first time an HP product has started giving me problems for no reason. Is there another soultion on the computer I can try using?
Previously when I would minamize internet/firefox the brightness would return.
After following said instructions, it will not brighten back up...
I have to be sitting in a dark corner to see my screen.
What can I do?

I was having this issue and couldn't find the vari-bright thing on the catalyst control centre but i fixed it.
1) Go to the power options bottom right battery symbol and click it and open "more power options".
2) Next go to the power option you are using and click "change plan settings".
3) Click "Change advanced power settings" and scroll down the list to "display".
4) Expand display and look for "Enable Adaptive Brightness".
5) Expand that and turn it off for plugged in or battery whichever you want to.
and thats how i fixed it.
