I'm running Windows 7 64 bit on my HP Pavillion dv6. I had never had any problems with my wifi, until I used an ethernet cable for a little while. Normally, my wifi runs great. I get full signal bars, and about 10 or so other networks show up in my area, and I can connect to wifi at public places and other people's houses when I go out. Then, I used an ethernet cable at my house for a few days, to see if that helped a problem we're having with our router (internet cuts in and out occasionally, but that's not related to my concern). After I rebooted my computer once with the ethernet cable in, the icon in the lower right that shows my network changed. It used to look like signal bars, and when I clicked on it I could see that I was connected to my home network with excellent signal strength and internet, and I could see a list of other local networks. After rebooting with the ethernet cable in, the icon changed into a monitor with an ethernet cable next to it, and when I click on it it shows just my network. When I take the ethernet cable out, my network disappears and it says there are no connections available.
Something went wrong with my wifi. I've tried several methods through the control panel to set up a wireless network and internet, and I've made sure several times that my computer has wireless enabled. There is a button on my keyboard (the f12 key) that shows a little blue light when wifi is enabled, and it turns red when wireless is turned off. I always make sure the light is blue.
When I clicked on "Intel My Wifi Technology" in the control panel, a little window popped up that said "Network Adapter Not Found." What does this mean? Did I somehow lose a driver? What can I do to fix it? I really need my wireless internet, especially for school, so can I please get some help? Thank you 🙂

Sometimes when you use ethernet cable the wireless adapter gets disabled.Open Network and Sharing Center.In the left sidebar click 'Change adapter settings'. This should show both ethernet and wireless adapters. Is the wireless set to disabled? If so, right click and choose Enable.

@ArRaj
Be sure the wireless is also turned on via the button or slider switch (different models have different options) Have you restarted the laptop at least once and gone back in to be sure it is still enabled?

Try a hard reset, works sometimes.Disconnect all external devices first.
1-remove power cord and battery
2-press power button for 30 seconds
3-reinstall only power cord for first startup.
4-power on

Hey AminLordPC,
I'm sorry you're running into this issue with the wireless driver.
Try downloading the driver from this link It is the same filename but you may have better results with that link, hopefully. You could also get the latest BIOS from here. It's good to keep the BIOS up-to-date at all times so that the other components' latest drivers will work correctly.
Let me know the results when you get a chance 🙂
