Problem with Network Adapter Driver Qualcomm Atheros AR8151 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller Driver not working on Windows 10

I have had this laptop for last 3 years running on Windows 7 just fine, but few weeks ago I upgraded to Windows 10 when wired internet connection stopped working. Whenever I connect Ethernet cable in the network settings it shows "Unidentified Network" "No internet access". I tried updating the driver, uninstall and re-install the driver, call Microsoft for help but nothing seems to be working. And there are no driver updates for Windows 10 on hp.com Is there any solution for this problem? Please help.

Hi ,

The link (atheros.cz) that you provided had the same problem. However I found solutionon the below mentioned link. It had the driver I needed and it worked!!! No both my wireless and wired internet connections work.

SOLUTION: Downloaded the driver from driverscape.com, double click to open, double click setup appliction file, select option repair during installation and then simply follow the prompts. Restart the computer after installation. Mine worked.

Thank you so much for your help.

Hi @wildvista1,

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues with help from the community!

I came across your post about the Notebook, and wanted to assist you! I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion dm4-2070us Entertainment Notebook and needing the Qualcomm Atheros AR8151 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller Driver for Windows 10. Here is a link to drivers for Windows 8 which should help. Yes I see you are using Windows 10 but this driver should install.

If not as there are no drivers listed for your Qualcomm Atheros AR8151 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller Driver and Windows 10, you will have to return the Notebook back to Windows 7 when things worked ok. Please be aware that HP does not guarantee Windows 10 drivers will be available from Windows Update.

Please let me know how this goes.

Thanks.

I had the same problem with my Acer Aspire V3 771G and the solution above worked.  I downloaded the zip file from the 2nd download button on this link http://www.driverscape.com/download/qualcomm-atheros-ar8151-pci-e-gigabit-ethernet-controller-%28ndi...

to a usb using another pc with Ethernet internet. I ran the setup and then selected the 2nd radio button and restored the driver back to the previous installation.

This is an old post but for those that are still having problems in 2017:

So after doing some digging, I found out that for Win 10 you have to be using Driver v2.1.0.26 which was released in 2016. Located the driver on this website:

https://www.ath-drivers.eu/download-driver-nr-315-for-atheros-AR8151-and-Windows10.html

1) Download driver, save it onto desktop for easy access

2) Start "Device Manager"

3) Click "Network Adapters"

4) Right Click "Qualcomm Atheros AR 8161..."

5) "Update Driver"

6) Click "Browse my computer for driver software"

7) Click "Let me pick from a list..."

😎 Click "Have Disk"

9) Click "Browse"

10) Locate & Select the files that have been downloaded (if its saved onto your desktop, you should be able to scroll down to see that there's a file called "netl1c63x64" setup file (I'm running 64bit btw)).

10) Update the driver and mine worked instantly!! Took me few hours of trial and error with various drivers... Hope this helps!
