Problem with Network Adapter Driver Qualcomm Atheros AR8151 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller Driver not working on Windows 10

I have had this laptop for last 3 years running on Windows 7 just fine, but few weeks ago I upgraded to Windows 10 when wired internet connection stopped working. Whenever I connect Ethernet cable in the network settings it shows "Unidentified Network" "No internet access". I tried updating the driver, uninstall and re-install the driver, call Microsoft for help but nothing seems to be working. And there are no driver updates for Windows 10 on hp.com  Is there any solution for this problem? Please help.

I am very sorry. The manufacturer is not releasing drivers for Windows 10 at all. Refer the link:

I am an HP employee.

Hi Vidya thank you for your reply. I did already contacted Qaulcomm who told me to contact HP as they are not responsible for it. And the link you posted is NOT Qaulcomm website or in anyway related to the company (as told by Qualcomm) but I still tried it and there is nothing to download. I get the following message

Hi,

Thank you for sharing your trouble with here, but unfortunately theer are no drivers available from Qualcomm for windows 10 , so in this scenario to ensure you have a working laptop I would suggest you to get back to windows 7 if you have to have your internet working. You can follow following steps for Roll Back (only if u upgraded to windows 10 within 30 days)

  • Click on the Windows Icon at the bottom left corner on desktop
  • Select SETTINGS
  • Select UPDATE AND SECURITY
  • Select GO BACK TO WINDOWS 7.

I hope this works but if the windows 10 upgrade happened before 30 days or you don't see these options we still should be able to access this from UEFI menu. Write us back in case you would need more help with this.

Although I work for HP but I'm speaking for myself.

Might work..

Wish you luck,

Thank you so much Karthik for the post. I just tried drivermax and the 4 eligible drivers but none of them worked.

This is annoying, I feel like a football between HP, Qualcomm and Microsoft. Simply being thrown around but no real help. Regret buying HP and I have only had this laptop for 4 years. I had Dell before this for 6 years with windows upgrades and Dell always helped. Didn't expect this from HP

Hi:

Yes it is frustrating and unfortunate.

However, let me set the record straight here...

Qualcomm Atheros is solely responsible for developing drivers for their products.

All HP does is assemble the PC's using the products developed by the hardware manufacturers (intel, amd, nvidia, realtek, qualcomm atheros, etc).

HP does not manufacture any hardware components whatsoever.

Accordingly they do not and cannot develop drivers for other manufacturers hardware.

If you had a Dell PC with that ethernet adapter and windows 10, you'd be in the same boat as you are now.

Thanks Paul that is really helpfull. Clearly shows HP is quick to deflect the blame. At least I know where not to go for help

You're very welcome.

I am not employed by, nor do I represent HP.

My goal was not to deflect anything, but present the facts.

I can't help it if you don't get it, and can't or won't accept the facts.

Here is a partial copy and paste of the Atheros ethernet driver setup information file.

Who holds the copyright for this driver???   Sure don't look look like HP to me!
