Hi All,
We have recently taken delivery of some 840 G3s with both SSD and conventional HDD.
We image our machines from configuration manager via F12 PXE build. The build works fine on non-SSD G3s.
We cannot get the OS to install on the SSD.
If you take out the conventional HDD, it won't build at all.
With both in, it will build to the conventional HDD.
I have checked the BIOS settings and cannot find any way of making the SSD a legacy boot source so that the build goes to it. UEFI and Legacy are both selected.
Is there something in the BIOS I can change to make this work, or do we need to change the build to force installation on the SSD?
Cheers, Tim

hi!!!!
Elitebook and Probook can download for free their Recovery for both windows Windows 10 Pro 64 bit or Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.
Download HP Recovery Cloud Application.
Check with those media if you can see the disk and install your windows.
UEFI = Is for windows 8 or windows 10
Legacy = Windows 7 or older.
Your machine has hybrid mode.
Legacy Mode Only or UEFI Mode Only or BOTH
Hope it helps!!

Thanks LetsTECH,
As we are imaging from config manager, we don't have a problem with the recovery disks, I just need to know how (if) our Windows 7 Enterprise image can be put on the SSD.
At the moment it will only image onto the conventional HDD.
Cheers, Tim

Ok . if i understand well you need to create image or clone a disk. at this case HDD to SSD?
Lot of people are using clonzilla(free) or Northon Ghost or Acronis.
I believe Acronis True Image will be fine for you. You can buy 1 licence (TRUE IMAGE VERSION) and install it at your pc. From there you can create bootble disk, usb or etc.
Upon you boot with Acronis bootable devise (press F9 if i remember well; Boot Menu) you can create image of the ENTIRE DISK or DISKS 2+ or single partition(not recommended) or you can Clone the Disk.
IF you wish to clone disk direct and not just to create image. Use external usb case and insert your new hdd or ssd(it will safe time) and plug to your laptop.
I had no issue with HDD to SSD or HDD to m.2 SDD or SSD to m.2 SSD etc.
Advise/ tips: If the HDD is 500 gb is better your SSD to be near to that size . expl. SSD 480gb
Acronis says "that you can do it even if the size is not match" - but in real life 😄 you will have issue. So be care with the SIZE.
If is for Windows 7 = better to retrun all your Bios to Legacy mode. (to avoid acronis to start as UEFI)
Uefi at the moment that you have windows 7 is not supported. you can enable uefi if you need to run test for hp.
