Hello,
trying to upgrade BIOS on 6735b laptop to fF20. Currently 68GTT Ver.F.11 No operating system, doing everything on USB sticks.
Have tried the following:
downloaded BIOS update (.exe) file from HP and tried to make USB BIOS updater on another computer (not a HP one). This always fails with messages about ''This system does not contain the necessary WMI support for this version of HPQFlash. Please use a version of HPQFlash prior to version 4.0.” Various internet saolutions refer to some HPServices running in the background, but since this is not a HP laptop that I am using to make the BIOS USB I imagine that's why it fails. Seems bizarre that you have to make a USB BIOS Updater on the same comapny's machine? (or have I got that wrong?)
downloaded and created HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI 6.0.2.0. When this runs at boot-up I get a nice menu that is MISSING the Firmware Management option.
It has been suggested that I put the latest BIOS .bin file somewhere on te USB DIagnostics USB, but I do not know where or what else to add. I tried putting the 68GTT.cin file in the 'HPTools>BIOS>New' folder but I still don't get teh 'Firmware Management' menu option when running the Diagnostics USB.
THe HP 6735b has NO operating system so I simply hit 'ESC' on start-up and then force the USB stick to boot into the Diagnostics.
HP's 3-in-1 Daignostic Tool fails to download from their website on every occasion I try.
Any suggestions as to how I can upgrade this BIOS would be most welocme.
Many thanks in advance.
