When I use the sound out port on my docking station (serial edited by Moderator) I get no bass, just tinny sound from my full-range speakers. When the speakers are plugged into the headphone jack directly on the laptop it sound normal, with full range sound. I've checked the setting in the Sound CP and the speakers are identified as full range, so that's not the issue. There are no sound enhancements switched on in the SRS control panel. I'm baffled. Why no bass when using the docking station. I've tried two different docking stations with the same result: no bass.

Yea! I finally solved it on my system:

  • Go to the Control Panel
  • Choose Hardware and Sound

or Just view ALL Control Panel items

  • Select SRS Premium Sound Pro (it is a blue/white circle icon)
  • Wait for the the black EQ program to come up
  • Select the "listening experience" tab/words near the top of the SRS Premium Sound PRO window
  • Uncheck the box "Audio Enhancement"

Done

Also, there's the Graphic Equalizer in there that totaly works well to further fine tune to your desired speaker and audio preference.

Same problem here.  I have an 8570W running windows 7 in a docking station.  It's like the BASS is completely turned off through the Docking Station audio out port only.  When I move my speaker wire to the headphone jack on the computer while docked, bass is coming through the speaker system and subwoofer fine... just not through the dock.  Again, the sub woofer isn't even getting a low frequency to amplify.

It's not the dock.  I have an older computer running Windows XP that uses the same docking station with perfect sound output.  I suspect there is something in the driver of this newer system telling it to turn off Bass because it assumes it's playing through the computer's tiny speakers.

Also, I have two exact same docking stations, both have the same no BASS result with this Win 7, EliteBook 8570W

I updated drivers, still not fixed.  Good to know I've seen this problem on the web in a few places from others, so it sounds like a design bug, wating for HP help.  Just not enough complaints yet, I guess.

Manage Audio Devices

Speakers.....Properties.....Advanced tab

Remove check from "Enable audio enhancements" then Apply

I've adjusted all possible settings in the control panel, and nothing works. No bass from the dock; nothing. I've plugged the speakers into the headphone jack on the laptop itself and it works fine. I give up.

Thanks, but I posted the serial of the dock. Not sure how that can be a problem. I thought it might help HP identify the problem, which is still there.

After making this change make sure you hit "APPLY" this works for me every time....I had the exact same problem.

Unfortunately my system does not have the "Enable audio enhancements" option.

My Advanced tab has checks around "Exclusive Mode" and drop down options regarding Hz Quality.

I've tried several on off checks and quality settings, but still nothing is changing.  No Bass yet.

Windows 7 64bit,

IDT High Definition Audio CODEC Driver (6.10.6435.0   11/12/2012)

I do not see an updated driver...
