Hello rusty732. I understand that you're having issues connecting to the internet, but not your local network, is this correct?
How long has the issue been occuring? Other than the issue with your wired/wireless connections have you noticed any other problems?
Another important piece of information is the kind of internet service you're using. Is it DSL, Cable, dial-up, etc? Each comes with its own set of problems to troubleshoot.
Also, you may need to reinstall some of your device software so if you could post your model number for me that may prove useful. Use this document to locate your product number for me.
I will await your response.

Hi, I have now reset the TCP IP and my status shows that I am connected wireless to the to my router with internet access but I cannot open the web page.
After running some diagnostics it says 'windows could'nt receive network traffic from the internet'.
Regards.

Hello again rusty732.
Have you had any changes in your network hardware such as replacing the router or modem? Have you had to reset the router? DSL normally requires you to log in, and this information is stored in the router. If you have access to the router you may want to verify that this information is still present.
Another step to take is to go ahead and make sure you're not running into a driver related issue. Here is a link for your ethernet card's driver. Try this first and see if it has a result.
Your notebook included many different wireless cards during its life cycle. I'll need you to help me determine exactly which one you have in order to provide that driver. Try these steps.
- Click Start, type "Device Manager," and press Enter.
- Expand the "Network Adapters" section.
- Post what is listed there.
Also, if you have a seperate router and modem what are the lights on the modem currently? If you don't mind listing them and what you see as far as lights it may also be very helpful.

The fact that you're connecting to the LAN without issue but not able to connect to the internet implies that your hardware (at least the router and your network cards) is working properly. You've also reinstalled the drivers so you know you're using the correct software. I think it may be best to rule out an ISP side issue. So, I have a few questions.
Do you have any other devices on your network like another computer, a smartphone, or a tablet? Are they able to connect to the internet?
When did this stop working?
Are your router and modem seperate devices or are they a "2-in-1" device?
A good step to take will be to try hard resetting the router/modem.
- Unplug the router, the modem, and shut down your computer.
- Leave them all powered off for one minute.
- If your modem and router are seperate then power on the modem first and let all the lights come on.
- Then power up the router and do the same.
- Finally, power up the notebook and determine if you can connect to the internet.
I will await your response; have a great day!

Hi, my router/modem is one single device an orange livebox.
I have allready done the livebox reset and get the same issue.
I have two other laptops and one desktop pc connected to the livebox and are all working OK.
I think I have a problem with this laptop not my router, because it shows connected wireless to my livebox, or LAN connected with an ethernet cable, but shows 'connected - no internet access' on both types of connection and will not allow me to open a web page.
After trying different tests I did manage to get the connection to show 'connected - internet access' but was still unable to open a web page, but then lost the 'connected - internet access' messege when I shut down the laptop.
After trying some diagnostics I had a statement 'windows couln'nt recieve network traffic from the internet'.
Regards.

There may be a setting in the router (such as MAC filtering) that is not allowing this specific device to work properly. The cards work though, as if they didn't they wouldn't connect to a network at all. The router handles the internet connection, so that is going to be the next thing to check.
However, before delving into router settings I am curious if you're able to conenct to OTHER networks and reach the internet? Do you have a neighbor or friend that would allow you to connect to their network to test this?
I will await your response; have a great weekend.
