Last night the computer was fine. I closed it, plugged in to charge. Then today, tried to turn it on. A lovey background picture of some flamingos has appeared but no login prompt. I tried to shut it down but it won't. I don't seem to be able to do anything with it. Help?

Hello, @Umemoo - Hope you are well 🙂
Welcome to the HP Forum! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips.
Thanks for reaching out to HP support forums! I would like to be of your assistance 🙂
I understand your laptop is stuck on the login screen but without any login prompt. You can try to force shutdown the machine by pressing and holding the power button on the laptop for about 5seconds.
If this does not help your case, please go to http://hp.care/2byfHyh and follow the instructions to perform a power drain on your laptop. That should get your machine running again.
Let me know how that goes!
Good luck 🙂
