Hello from Greece,
My name is George and i am lucky owner of new StarWars laptop, as a gift from my parents. Unfortunately, the laptop has a faulty screen (small white stripe on left corner), but HP Greece accept the flaw and they will change the screen with a new one.
The problem is that my parents misplaced the receipt and so i surprisingly found, that i have no longer warranty for my product. Local HP, who check the serial number, says that they can confirm that the laptop first powered on before half month or that the date manufactured is end of 2015, but they cannot do anything without a receipt because i might stole it. I have the original packaging and all components, I can provide a copy of my ID card or any other personal information they might request, but they are unwilling to change their opinion.
Also, in the question if i buy a care pack to extend my laptop's warranty to 3 years, they aswer that it does not make sense to extend warranty because my product has not own any warranty anymore.
What i should do? Is that any other way to contact HP Europe or HP US?
Thank you!
Edit:
I forget to highlight that i saw a post about receipts, says "if no other purchase date is available for a consumer product, a default date of purchase is loaded into our systems instead of your actual date of purchase. Customer Service will work with you to determine the closest date to your original purchase as possible. Often, that date coincides with the date the product was shipped to the store, the date it was first powered on, or the date it was manufactured."
After all that, I can understand why local HP has that behaviour..

@georgegr3
I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post serial numbers and case details.
If you are unfamiliar with how the Forum's private message capability works,this post has instructions.

Hi,
I don't think other HP Offices can help, they only look at serial number and use warranty check to confirm. You can check yourself too using the following link:

For the receipt, ask your parrants to see the store where they bought the machine for you. That store should keep a copy UNLESS they hide something from Tax office.
Regards.

Problem here is if it was bought in 2015 the retailer most likely doesn't have those records anymore the only other one would be CC those would have records of the transaction if they used a CC for the purchase. The retailer has no benefits to keep the invoice past the in store return period timeline.

Unfortunately without a Invoice repairs will be hard to do and warranty will be even harder to verify for your computer. You can get HP carepack but it will not fix anything that failed between the factory and the time you bought HP carepack. You will have to pay for that time there wasn't any warranty to fix if that happens. Actually that note you made is true of all laptop makers with a Invoice they go with the default default date regardless of the manufacture. You only choices are as some mentioned is ask your parents to see where they placed the receipt and if they used CC then the company should still have that record of transaction. Otherwise if neither of these can be found in the end you will have to pay to get this fixed or take it to a computer shop to fix it.

Good morning to all and thank you for your time to help me!
@Omar-E Thank you again someone already made a contact.
@banhien I had already check the serial number and laptop has still 11 months warranty. This case is not about avoiding taxation. The store give me official receipt for my purchase.
@PeerOne The laptop purchased 1 month ago, the date that is manufactured is late 2015. They paid cash for the gift (here in Greece, cash is common way to purchase eveything) so they cannot verify the transaction with the bank..
Also, i do not have any problem if the HP said that they covered me from manufactured date and not from the day laptop purchased. In that case i will still had 8 months warranty (date manufactured 11/2015). But all I see is not interest to assist but the opposite..
Moreover, nobody made i comment about that post, which say that HP can assist in cases like that just with serial number and at least cover warranty from manufactered date.
I always keep the receipts of the products purchased. But in this case i cannot say anything to my >60years parents for misplaced the receipt, just to thank them for the gift. I hope the machine work well for many years, because they will be more sad than me. Thank you again for your assist.

Hello to all!
@Omar-E
Thank you someone already made a contact with me.
@Banhien
I ckecked the serial number at he link you provide at says that I still have warranty for 11 months. There is no tax evasion problem here, the receipt is officially given.
@PeerOne
The laptop is bought 1 month ago. To correct any misunderstanding, I dont have any problem to have warranty from the date the laptop manufactured(11/2015) and not from the date purchased, if purchase date cannot verified from HP, because in that case I will still have warranty for 8 more months. But HP is not recognise any kind of warranty and all I see is not interest to help me but her opposite.
Unfortunately, they paid in cash ( it is common to buy everything is cash in Greece) so there is no bank statement/record to verify the purchase.
Nodody made a comment about that post, which says that HP can help and verify the warranty even without a receipt.
I always keep all the receipts, but there is nothing I can to now. If nothing changes, I hope the machine live long, otherwise my parents will be sad more than me.
Cheers to eveyone,
George

Well, if it helps I do feel your situation. But Invoices or Receipts are for records not saying it will help or not but it just helps to support your side should problems happen and the other side says the warranty is over or done but the purchase date would show otherwise. If anything you can see if a Computer shop is more helpful to see what they can do as with them working on it at least that would mean the warranty will not be voided by you as they are licensed to do computer fix or repairs at least you have some coverage there.
