The drivers listed are High Drfinition Audio Device and IDT High Definition Audio CODEC
The CODEC driver has an yellow triangle icon next to it.
Updating the CODEC driver results in error:

Machine was 8.1 then updated to 10. Windows 10 was somehow corrupted a couple weeks after update. Took it to Microsoft Store and they did a repair routine of Windows 10, which re-installed 10. At that point sound was gone.

I recently had the same issue. Tech support had me to download the drivers for Windows 8.1 again and my sound returned. The explanation was that not all the drivers have been created for Windows 10 yet.

To obtain drivers from the hp site -

1. go to support.hp.com

2. right side of page - Let HP find it for you with an Identify Now button. Click.

3. An hp utility may need to install, if not previously installed on your machine. Allow it.

Note you may have to get that installed first, and then start over.

4. The Identify Now will run an hp utility to identify your machine.

When your machine is listed, select it.

5. 1-4 was only to get you to the main support page for your machine.

6. From you machine home page, left side is bars with options.

     Click Software and Drivers

7. Click the Go buton next to

Option 2: Go directly to the software and driver results

note option One will audit for Windows 10 drivers, and in this situation we need an 8.x driver.

8. Next page select Microsoft Windows and Version 8.1 or 8.0 from the drop down menus. Cick Update button.

9. Now you should be a listing of Windows 8.x drivers for your machine.

10. select Driver-Audio. Click on the Download 64-bit (assuming 64-bit). An install zip will download to your machine.

11. If the downloaded driver file does not start auto-install, go to the location file was downloaded.  Double-click on the file.  Should start an hp install wizard.  As I recall, it unzips the file(s) and then runs an install utility.

12. After the install wizard completes I don't recall if a reboot was mandated, but it's never a bad idea.

Check the sound driver for updates at some point in the future, in case hp decides to support a Windows 10 version.  Go to device manager on your machine, look for the sound icon. Right-click on the audo driver(s) and click Update Driver Software...  then select search automatically.
