HP Pavilion Laptop PC 15-eg1000 IDS Base Model
Microsoft Windows 11

I have purchased 2 USB C docking stations capable of multiple monitors. First one had dual HDMI ports, this second one has dual DisplayPort ports. Neither has worked using my USB C port. I tested them on my wife's HP and both work fine so I know the docking stations are not defective. All my drivers are working and current. I have checked my specs for this machine and it says it should support DisplayPort 1.4 through the USB C. Does this not work with a docking station?

USB ports and card reader work on docking station, just no video output on either DiplayPort port or the HDMI port.

What is your HP Pavilion Laptop PC 15-eg1000 ? I believe it should have same ports as the following machine

              HP Pavilion Laptop 15-eg1000TU

which shows it has 1 SuperSpeed USB Type-C® 10Gbps signaling rate (USB Power Delivery, DisplayPort™ 1.4, HP Sleep and Charge) port.

Can you connect directly to a monitor using USB-C - USB-C or a compatible adapter USB-C to DP ? Sound like thos docks are not compatible with your machine.

I tested a similar machine with an HP USB-C G5 dock and they worked.

Regards.

1. I gave the exact model in the post. HP Pavilion 15t-eg100

2. I do not have a monitor or cable capable of usb c to usb c. I do not have a USB C to DP adapter.

But isn't that technically what a docking station is doing? acting as an adapter.

3. The whole purpose here is to get 2 or more monitors connected and a USB hub. Not just one extra monitor through the USB C.

4. Most of us cannot afford a $400 HP USB-C G5 docking station, this one costs less than $70. I only paid $600 for the laptop itself.

5. As I also stated in the post, I also tested this on a similar HP laptop and it worked. How is there that much difference in the USB C ports HP is using?

No, that is not a model. It is a CTO machine, that model is not its model/product number.  Please use the following way to find out the model/product of your machine

                            https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00033108

For security reason, please do NOT post its Serial number (s/n) on Internet.

Not ALL docking stations are the same and not ALL USB-C ports are the same.
