Paul, the Q9300 is in the Minitower. I put the E8400 65 watt dual core in the sff. Same TDP as 'stock'. Perhaps I wasn't clear - Another thing I did (against my very Nature!); I ALWAYS update BIOS, microcode, etc. BEFORE putting the upgraded device in -> ( like you, yourself do) ! In this case; I didn't. I didn't research the History of the Updates and what each update was addressing ....... a process that can take hours, the way HP's Product Support is set up. Thanks for taking a second look! Kind Regards, wfejnieh2

Thanks! Paul!
I plan on putting that Antec Power Supply (430 Watts Continuous! Power) in the dc5800 Microtower I'm building for my sister in
Canada for Christmas. I'll keep the one in hers as a spare (for mine!) She'll get the Q9300 presently in mine (identical dc5800 MT).
I figure with that power supply, and the Q9300 I'll be able to put a video (graphics) card in reliably! The Q9550 will go into my
computer! Geez! I did a little research on the Q9550 and it has nearly twice the transistors as the Q9300!! It truly
should pack a WHAM!!! and the beauty lies in the fact I got it for $120.00!!! I paid around ~$110.00 for the Q9300 which included
an Arctic Cooling Heatsink. You know; I'm now realising when bidding for something on eBay you have no urgent need for; Hold
Out! and go for the Best!!! It would have been worth an extra 20 bucks to have gotten a Q9550 over the Q9300; though, the
Q9300 is no slouch! I appreciate all of your help and advice! ..... now, it's time to go shopping again for a video card for my sisters
new configuration! Could we resume the thread on a Good, rather inexpensive (~50.00) video card? again?
Kindest Regards! wfejnieh2

Hi:
For the mini-tower, I recommend this one. Seems to have good reviews and packs a lot of punch for the price.

Any card you get with HDMI out, will disable the onboard video.
So after you install the drivers for the card, reboot and go into the BIOS.
Find the onboard audio setting in the onboard devices menu, and set it to Enabled. Hit the F10 key at that point and again when you exit the BIOS.
There is no onboard audio setting in your BIOS now, but it will show up after you add a card with HDMI out.
I agree...when I am not in a rush for something, I bid. Usually you make out better price-wise.

Though I made a copy of your instructions when adding a video card with HDMI out, I appreciate your reiteration of the process! I'm
Very Confident (a fool?) Working in BIOS; as long as I know what I'm doing! ; if I buy a new/new used video card, I'd want
one with all three video outs: an analog VGA, the digital monitor out, and the HDMI. Tell me; since she'll be using it mostly for
internet/mail, etc., and pictures , will she still have audio while she's browsing and maybe watches something on youtube?
using her onboard speaker? I believe that's what you're telling me, but I'm so gosh darn ignorant on Video Cards, I'm not ashamed
to ask! It'll probably be very clear when I go to the newegg link you provided! I'll most likely buy your suggested card, 'cause I
know it'll work! Time sure goes quickly, once you get old! ..... and I'm running on empty! Thanks for your wonderful support!
My sister had just called me when you had replied, so I had a chance to 'quiz' her on what features she'd like. wfejnieh2

Hi:
I guess I forgot about mentioning the onboard audio previously.
Once you enable the onboard audio again in the BIOS, the sound will work just as if you had never installed a video card.
If an HDMI cable is plugged into the HDMI out port and into a TV's HDMI port, the TV should pick up both video an audio via that one cable.
The card I recommended has all 3 types of ports, DVD, VGA and HDMI.
I use the DVI port in mine so I have HD video, and I use my PC speakers for the regular onboard PC audio.
Best Regards,
Paul

Try installing Intel Management Engine Interface driver from the following weblinks:
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp58001-58500/sp58387.exe
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp56501-57000/sp56675.exe
Any one of this should resolve the problem.
