I'm having problems getting a ssd added to my computer.
I've tried two different ones: 1) Intel 530 series-256GB, and 2) Crucial Mx100-512GB.
The Crucial drive is the one recomended by their compatibility tool.
I tried calling HP help but all they would tell me was that my computer wouldn't support a ssd and I believe they are mistaken, as I've read posts like this http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware/Does-HP-G7-1368DX-support-SATA-III/td-p/2798639http:/... where Sergiy already has one installed and working.
I've tried several different softwares, tried cloning tried backing up they all seem to suceed but the when the drive is installed and I try to boot I get disk not found errors.
I also tried using the HP restore disks I created with the HP recovery tool, they can't find the drive either. Even a directly downloaded Win7 iso from microsoft can't find it.
Thanks in advance.

This is to help anone else out if they are having a similar problem with ssd not being seen on the hdd0 port, but that a regular hdd works fine.
Get a replacement motherboard to SATA cable. For some reason the one that came with my computer would see a regular hdd but not any sdd (I tried 4 different brands, so it wasn't a brand thing).

Hi @Azrak ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion g7-1368dx Notebook and it not seeing the SDD. I recommend to restore the BIOS defaults. You could restore the BIOS with this document selecting the reloading the BIOS default settings.
It shows me it recommends this on the site.
Hope this helps you out.
Thanks.

Thanks for the reply.
Resetting the BIOS to default does nothing. It's not really a bios, just a way to change the boot order, heck I can do that with the F9 key.(Oh yeah. I forgot it can change the time too!)
BIOS Version/Date Insyde F.46, 2/22/2012
Is F.6A something I really need? Well I upgraded it anyway no change as far as I can tell.
Version/Date F.6A, 6/11/2013
Fix/Enhancement
- Provides enhanced performance of the VGA on systems with 2GB of memory installed.
My computer has 8GB, and I've never had any reason to use the VGA port.
As for the compatiblity upgrades your link is the right one. If you click on the little tab 'view more compatible ssd upgrades' you'll see the Crucial Mx100-512GB there.
As you can see in this capture.
Well I finally got it to work somewhat...
What I did:
Used the CD/DVD hard drive caddy to connect the drive to the sata.
Used diskpart to set it to clean.
Took the iso downloaded from MS and used Rufus v1.2.0 to make a bootable Win7 flash drive.
Downloaded the "Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) Support Environment for HP Pavilion g7-1368dx v4.3.3.0" from here
Used winrar to extract the files from the exe:
Packages>Drivers>SBDrv>hseries>AHCI>W764A
amd_sata.cat
amd_sata.inf
amd_sata.msi
amd_sata.sys
amd_xata.sys
Then copied them to another flash drive.
Rebooted the computer and used F9 to choose the Win7 usb.
When I reached tha part that allows you to load drivers, I browsed to the usb drive I put those on and let it install them.
After that Win7 install went without a hitch.
I then proceded to using Paragon Hard Disk Manager™ to copy the Windows system from my original drive over the one just made by the new install.
Rebooted it 5 or 6 times to be sure but it seemed fine, I even ran CrystalDiskMark to see what speeds I was getting. Here's a capture. 🙂
Now we come to the 'somewhat' part I mentioned. When I connect the drive to the sata that the optical drive normally uses everything's great but if I connect it to the sata the hard drive was on I get boot disk error press ctrl/alt/delete everytime. 😞
Any ideas as to why?

Hi @Azrak ,
Restoring the BIOS should fix the issue as it will force the BIOS to look at the New HDD and does the BIOS see the New HDD.
Did you change the boot order to reflect the HDD?
If this does not fix the issue please call our technical support at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link to get the support number for your region. They will be happy to assist you immediately.
Thanks.

Sorry for all the extral posts. I thought it hadn't succeeded in getting sent.
Yes, I restored the BIOS, and no, I have no way of telling in this crippled BIOS whether the drive is being recognized. There is no option for that. Notebook hard drive is set to boot first. This is the only option that is even changable.
The BIOS is probably seeing the drive as I can boot from it with it installed in an optical drive enclosure and connected directly to the SATA. In fact I'm using my computer with the drive installed there and the original drive removed from the system as I'm making this reply.
It is definately connected via SATA III as you can see by my results in CrystalDiskMark.
My problem is as to why I can't install the drive to the place my old drive was, so that I can put my DVD drive back in.
As I said in my first post I have already called support and was politely told that my system would not support a SSD. Which is definately incorrect information as I am currently booting from one in it right now and at least one other member also posted that they had one installed on the same model.

~Bump~
Really? No one has a clue or will even hazard a guess, as to why I can install and boot and run my Windows 7 on the SATA port my dvd drive uses but doesn't even get recognized when attached to the normal SATA port the hard drive should be connected to???
