Hello,

I have an HP Pavilion dv5-1183cl that has been upgraded from Windows Vista to Windows 7 Ultimate (32bit) and I have some issues.

I have four errors showing up in my device manager, three Base System Device and one Unknown Device, and I don't know what they are or where to get the drivers (since I don't know what they are). Additionally, the battery will not charge (there does not appear to be anything wrong with it physically). I am wondering if the below errors are related to the battery issue. Below are the hardware IDs for each error entry.

Base System Device (PCI bus 6, device 0, function 1):

PCI\VEN_197B&DEV_2382&SUBSYS_3603103C&REV_00
PCI\VEN_197B&DEV_2382&SUBSYS_3603103C
PCI\VEN_197B&DEV_2382&CC_088000
PCI\VEN_197B&DEV_2382&CC_0880

Base System Device (PCI bus 6, device 0, function 3):

PCI\VEN_197B&DEV_2383&SUBSYS_3603103C&REV_00
PCI\VEN_197B&DEV_2383&SUBSYS_3603103C
PCI\VEN_197B&DEV_2383&CC_088000
PCI\VEN_197B&DEV_2383&CC_0880

Base System Device (PCI bus 6, device 0, function 4):

PCI\VEN_197B&DEV_2384&SUBSYS_3603103C&REV_00
PCI\VEN_197B&DEV_2384&SUBSYS_3603103C
PCI\VEN_197B&DEV_2384&CC_088000
PCI\VEN_197B&DEV_2384&CC_0880

Unknown Device (on Intel(R) ICH9M LPC Interface Controller - 2919):

ACPI\ENE0100
*ENE0100

Does anyone have any possible solutions? Thanks in advance,

Jason

Your model has Windows 7 drivers posted. You need the JMicron Card Reader driver & ENE CIR Receiver Driver:

For the battery problem try this.

  1. Disconnect power cord
  2. Shutdown
  3. Remove battery
  4. Connect power cord
  5. Startup
  6. In Device Manager under the Batteries category, right-click all of the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery listings, and select Uninstall (may only have 1).
  7. Shutdown
  8. Disconnect power cord
  9. Insert battery
  10. Connect power cord
  11. Startup

CherylG,

Thanks for the driver information, that solved my missing device driver problem.

The battery solution did not solve the non-charging battery issue, though. The laptop is several years old and it is possible that either a. the battery is past its usable life (even though it is not bulging) or b. the power cord is not providing enough to charge (there was a recently issued recall for the specific type of cable I have.

I will attempt to find another laptop like the one I have and put my battery in that one. Thanks.
