When i plug it in, the little light right by where you plug the cord into the computer turns on, but the charging light does not turn on and the computer will not power on. At all.
What can I do to get my computer to turn on?

I tried everything you suggested. There is ONE light that turns on, and that is the power indicator light, which is located next to the hole on the laptop where you plug the cord in, but the charging light on the FRONT of the computer, or any other LEDs, wont turn on. Battery is completely dead. I have tried multiple cords, so its not an issue w/ my cord. The computer recognizes it's plugged in, I just don't think it can use it.
Dell hardware support friend suggested it may be a motherboard issue? But it seems more like an issue with the AC power being able to charge the battery or run the computer. Is this fixable?
I realize I will probably have to send it in to get it fixed. Same tech support friend says the repair will probably cost $400. (He said he had a That is ridiculous. That is over half the price I paid for the **bleep** thing.
Please, someone, give me some suggestions here.
Also, no my computer is not under warranty, and is too old to get another.

Hello Limesmoke,
I understand that your computer will not boot.
Try to use the laptop without the battery.
It may be that the port is bad and not the motherboard.
Here is a link to a number to call HP and see what options they have to repair the system.
If your close to a best buy they may be able to tell you the exact problem for fairly cheap and then it maybe something that you can replace yourself.
Let me know how everything goes.
