I'm trying to restore this laptop to it's original OS. The previous owner installed Win. 7 prof. 64 bit. I don't think this had a 64 bit OS originally. The sticker on the bottom says Vista. But I don't know if that was the 32 or 64 bit version as both come up in the HP driver download page. Problem I'm having is the Win 7 seems glitchie and the wireless card won't work. As HP never installed Win 7 on this model I can't seem to find the proper drivers.

There are no restore disks avail for this model. Appearantly the restore files were on a hidden partition and the previous owner wiped that with his Win 7 install.

Any suggestions on what to do with this Laptop? to get it working properly again?

Thanks

The complete product name is needed to be able to locate the support portal. That is where all of the drivers are located. On this web document there are ISO images for Windows Vista. there is also a tutorial on how to make installation DVDs.

This thread in the HP forum is a great source for  Windows Vista ISO images.

What is the complete product name or product number?

HP has produced and brought to market more than a thousand different models of notebooks and desktop PCs over the years. It is difficult to help you if we don't know which specific model you own..

Method #1: If the notebook will boot into Windows, you can retrieve your Product Number by pressing Fn + Esc key.

Method #2:
Remove the battery and look in the compartment where the battery was installed. You should see a Service tag with printed part number and a product name. Please post the p/n (with all alphanumeric characters) here. If you live outside of North America, it helps us if you post the country of purchase. Also post the installed CPU type. (AMD or Intel)

Once you provide that, I will see if I can find a source for a Vista ISO for you. With an ISO you can make either an install DVD or a USB Vista installer. All you will need beyond that is the 25 character license activation key that you found on the Microsoft COA and drivers from the web support portal.

That all look about right ?

Not really. A search using what you posted did not turn up the notebook that you described. Use the following HP document.

How do I find my product number?

Well if there is a License Sticker on the bottom of the computer and it is for Windows Vista, then you can go online and search for an iso for Windows Vista and download that a burn that image to a DVD and be able to use that to restore Windows.  If you know anyone that has Vista you can also use or copy their CD, that isn't illegal as you have the license on the bottom of the computer.  One thing with Vista is that no matter what CD you use, when you enter the license number in while doing the install, it will autmatically install the version that is associated with that license.  You will then be able to go to the HP website and download the drivers needed to install them and get everything working.   However, if you do wish to keep Windows 7 then the information requested would be needed to know exactly what model it is that you have to be able to help you out further in depth.
