I have a HP Pavilion g6-1d73us Notebook PC on Windows 7

The fan is running very fast to the point where it's vibrating my entire laptop. But the air coming from it is very cool. Performance has not been affected at all. I've cleaned out the vents with a can of compressed air as best I could, and that helped for a little while. I've restarted the computer several times and updated all BIOS and other software. There was nothing that could have happened to the computer to make it act this way externally (no dropping or knocking over, no spills, anything like that). I also haven't installed or uninstalled anything unusual. The computer itself isn't even two years old yet, so I doubt it could just be the fan wearing out.

What could this be, and what can I do to fix it?

Could be a sensor issue but at least the fan is working and not having any other problems. Load up HWinfo64 and take a look to see if it is reporting anything for the fan.

I've installed and pulled up HWinfo64, but I don't understand any of it. Nothing about fans is sticking out to me, though.

Hi hwells,

Excellent troubleshooting steps that you have done. I have included the document 'Fan is Noisy and Spins Constantly, PC is Warmer than Normal'. There are a couple of steps in here that you can try.

Please let me know if the fan is still noisy, thank you.
