Pictures deleting

My mother has been have an issue with her HP desktop computer and for the past week her pictures have all been deleting. It’s been going on a week. It’s been doing updates. She has windows 10 Does anyone know how to fix this??I’m

The default for Win10 is to store personal files and folders under the C:\Windows\Users\<username>\Documents folder under various aliases -- and the problem with that is that recent Win10 Updates were known to erase that folder.

While that did not actually remove the contents, it did make them inaccessible and you had to go out of your way to recover the files and folders.

You need to do the following:
1) Insert a USB stick into the PC -- as this will be used to retrieve the deleted files

2) Download and install this utility on a working PC http://www.majorgeeks.com/news/story/recover_data_in_3_steps_with_minitool_power_data_recovery_free_...
3) Run the data recovery utility to see what can be retrieved from the drive.

If that tool does not find what you need, an alternative is Recuva http://www.piriform.com/recuva

Once you have the files and folders on the USB stick, then use File Explorer to create a new folder on the C: drive, name it Personal

Then, insert the USB stick and copy the files and folders to the Personal folder you just created.

You should not then have further problems with files and folders getting deleted.
