HP Pavilion dv6z-7000 CTO

I just can't wrap my head around this one.

My brother is playing League of Legends, has 99 ping. I plug in my laptop, his ping immediately spikes to 1k then eventually hovers between 200-300ms.

At the same time, my download speed drops from 1.50 MBps to 40KBps.

Everything goes back to normal after I unplug it.

Hey Bobb1118,

I'm sorry to hear your running into this issue with the network performance being better on battery power than plugged in.  Are you connected via wireless or wired? If wireless: The first thing I would check is advanced power options for the wireless card. Usually, the network performance is weaker on battery than plugged in, so this is a little strange.

Start button > Type "power" > Click Power Options > Click 'Change plan settings' for the power plan that is selected > Click Change advanced power settings (at the bottom) > Scroll down to Wireless Adapter Settings. It should look like this. Plugged in should be Maximum Performance.

Other than that, I would say check to make sure you have the latest wireless and BIOS drivers. I can provide with direct links to both if I could get your product number. Here are the steps to find you product number. An outdated driver could be causing the issue.

I hope this helps! I'll keep an eye out for your reply Smiley Happy
