Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

The last few days I've noticed my power button not working. The laptop was ON, but I couldn't let it sleep by pressing the power button. I noticed the light on the button also dissapearing.

Yesterday my laptop turned off and is now unable to start up. I've tried replacing the cable between the motherboard and the power button controller. This has no effect. What I did notice is the power button controller heating up at the outer part when connecting the A/C.

When I hold the power button and do weird movements with the cable the light turns on however the laptop does not start up.

I tried finding a new power button, but couldn't find any and no I dont have warranty.

Does anyone have any idea's or links to a power button for this laptop?

Holding the power button without A/C connected does not work.
Reseting the CMOS does not work either.
I think that's obvious.

Man I just want my laptop to turn on. Can't I buy a power button controller from another hp laptop and use that instead? Are there any differences between power button controllers besides the shape?

I found the solution. The ribbon cable or the controller for the power button is broken.

How did I confirm this?

You can manually start up your laptop without the button/controller/ribbon cable.

You take out a metal sharp object and kind of gently scrape the pins where the cable is supossed to go into on the motherboard. This way you can complete the power circle which starts up your laptop. This helped me to start it up again.

HP does not sell the part I am looking for. So I bought the part from Ebay. Ebay sells disassembled parts from unused laptops.

I'm not sure if links are allowed but this youtube link helped me start up my laptop again,
