You're very welcome.

Depending on what the problem is, I may have had the same one too, that I forgot to tell you about.

It doesn't happen on the 6910p with the Intel graphics, it only happened on my 6910p with the amd graphics.

You boot up the PC from a cold boot, and you get a blank display (black) but everything is on.  The only way you can get to the W10 desktop is to restart the PC (and I had to do that with the W10 installation disk).  Just get into the disk menu and exit out, so the PC would restart.

The fix for that is to go into the power options and uncheck the enable fast startup box, and it will work just fine afterward.

If you are not familiar with where to find that setting, this link will be of help to you.

@Paul_Tikkanen I can't find anything. This appears to be a known issue and I found some other forums that said HP had posted a Windows 7 Catalyst driver at some point for this model which will work in 8 and likely 10. None of the current 6910p pages have an AMD/ATI driver posted and there are lots of internet items from frustrated owners of several brands of laptops with the X2300 video card trying to find 7/8/10 drivers for this video card. If anyone can find it, you can.

Hi, everyone...

Here is the problem...I am running W10 just fine on my 6910p with the Radeon X2300 graphics adapter.

There is a MAJOR issue with many of the older model HP business notebooks and desktops where most of the drivers are gone.  I mean gone.  They are not on the FTP site or anything.

HP is aware of it but an HP admin person informed me that it will be a while before they can restore the drivers to the support pages.

Models affected...all nc, nx, nw, 8510, 6910 notebooks, dc, dx desktops and more.

@Elshnawy :  Here is what I have done for you...I have uploaded the HP Radeon Vista graphics driver from my 6910p driver disk, and shared the link to my skydrive folder below (there was a W7 graphics driver on the support page that I used but like I said, it is gone).  HP only offered XP and Vista drivers on their recovery kits, so we'll have to see if this driver will work.  I think it might, or I wouldn't be wasting your time and mine.

Here is the link to my Skydrive folder.  Download and unzip the file labeled Radeon X2300.

You have to manually install this driver (you would have had to manually install the W7 driver too).

Go to the device manager and click on the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter needing the driver.

Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update driver.  Select the Browse my computer for driver software option and then at the bottom of that window, select the Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.

Click on Have Disk and browse to unzipped Radeon X2300 folder\Packages\Drivers\Display\select the LH_INF for 32 bit or the LH6A_INF for 64 bit as applicable\CH_48841 and select the ATI Mobility Radeon X2300 graphics adapter and hopefully, the driver will install.

Then reboot.

Everything works fine on W10 on my 6910p.  I do not use any of the security software though, so I can't say if the fingerprint reader works or not.

If you need any other drivers, just let me know.

If this does not work, when HP gets around to restoring the drivers, download the W7 version and follow the same instructions I posted above and it will work just fine.

Good luck.

Anytime.

Glad to have been of assistance.

Once HP gets around to restoring the W7 graphics driver, you can update to that one by using the same method as you did for the Vista driver I gave you.

It is not necessary to do that...only if you want to.

I assume the graphics is working just fine with the Vista driver anyway.

@Huffer:

Steve:

Now that it has been proven that the 6910p Vista x2300 graphics driver works just as good as the W7 driver, please feel free to share this discussion with the other forums you mentioned last week.

One note...there is only one X2300 hardware ID in the driver file, so I don't know if other PC manufacturers use the exact same hardware version of the graphics chip or not.

If it is not a HP 6910p notebook they have, the hardware ID for the graphics controller has to be this one, or it is a no go.
