Hi all,

This is my first post in this forum. I have a HP Pavilion dv4-1433us with a CD/DVD HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GT20L Ata and from some weeks to now it does not work anymore. When I put a CD or DVD it make just some noises but never read the disk. I have searched about a solution on the net but no solution is shown. Can you help me, please?

Thanks in advance,

It seems to be a hardware issue. Perhaps I have to buy another CDDVD. Thanks to all for answer me.

Hi:

See if performing the steps provided on the link below help/

I would start with Resolution 2 first.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for your quick answer. Yes, I already did it and I didn`t find any Upperfilters or Lowerfilters on the Registry. Besides I uninstalled the device on the Control Panel, but with no luck. Any other ideas?

Thanks again,

You're very welcome.

Unfortunately, that is the only idea I have that usually works.

You can try this if you want.  It has been known to occasionally work.

Remove the device from the PC and run it in Windows without the device.

Then shut the PC down and do a hard reset.

How do do a hard reset:

Then replace the DVD drive and see if it is rediscovered.

If that doesn't work, the drive is probably bad.

Paul,

I've tried to use both CD or DVD disks and noone is read. I'll try to do a hard reset and tell you the results.

Thanks again,

Paul,

I've made a hard reset, but unfortunately the results are the same.  :Crying:
