Probook 4530s
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello all,

I have a 4 year old Probook 4530s B5N72UT that is getting very dated with its 2nd gen Core i5 2450m processor. It does have a nice 750GB HDD though. And the processors are removeable, Ive double/triple checked.

Im looking to speed it up a bit, and have been doing some research but still need some answers.

1)  It looks as though nearly all 4530s models parts interchange, is this true?

2)  If so, then can I replace the i5-2450m 2-core with the i7-2630qm 4-core?

          - The i7-2630qm did come in some 4530s models, I checked.

3)  Then there are 2 RAM slots. HP says that max RAM is 8GB. While Intel says that the i5-2450m and i7-2630qm can handle 16GB. Can I go the 16GB route or am I stuck at 8GB?

4)  If all these other parts are interchangable, then I imagine I can bump up to the BluRay/DVD+RW drive from other models to right?

5)  Lastly, since I can change the processor, can I go to a 3rd, 4th, 5th or 6th gen Core i5/i7 processor?

Sorry for all the questions. I just really done want to buy a new laptop with all the specs I need, I would rather upgrade what I have, and get some longevity from my Probook. Any answers would be great.

Thanks

Here is the Service Manual:

Manual

i7-2670QM is the highest processor and it will fit your motherboard.

Max RAM is 8 gigs.

Yes you can install a Blu-Ray drive in place of the DVD burner. You can even get a generic drive and just swap the faceplate and mounting hardware.

You are limited to the 2d gen Core processors.

If you want it to be faster, consider a solid state drive. Overall, that will be the best upgrade you can do. Post back if you need more help with it.

Do I have to get a hard drive from another 4530s of can I get any SATA ssd or hdd drive that fits?
Thank you

Any SATA SSD which would be 2.5 inches wide and most of them are 7 mm thick and will fit perfectly in place of the hard drive. My recommendation is a Samsung 850 Evo:
