The BIOS whitelist is set so that only WiFi cards that meet FCC Regulations are used by that laptop.

 

Many countries have different FCC regulations.

 

That is why there are WiFi cards that are only used in those countries.

 

It is not the wrong part for the laptop it is just not one that is approved by HP for that laptop!!!

 

Thats why when you purchase an HP WiFi card make sure it has the HP sticker on it!!!

I am however glad they have retmove this whitelist in future laptops, its quite unfriendly for the consumer.

 

I am going to source the same card with the HP part number and will report back.

The Intel 6205 is the best bet for your laptop.

 

I am also glad that newer laptops do not have the whitelist.

Just wanted to update the thread for anyone else with the same issue. All is working perfectly. 

 

As REO51ST correctly said, you NEED the correct model with the HP part number for it to work.
