Hi,
That's ok, it has 2 slots and the second slot is empty. You can put 8GB max to the second lot using SAME specs of the first slot (can be different brand, prefer same brand). For examle my loan machine use Samsung RAM:

Hi,
Looks like it is a CTO machine:
There are many flavors of CTO machines. Therefore you need to check page #3 of the following manual:
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04402649.pdf
More more manuals:
http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Pavilion-17-Notebook-PC-series/6936220/model/7174486/manuals/
Note this statement: One SODIMM slot - NON customer accessible / upgradeable for Intel Processor
Please use the following tool to check the existing RAM slot of your machine:
http://www.cpuid.com/downloads/cpu-z/cpu-z_1.72.1-en.exe
Regards.

}
--></script></head>
<body onload='javascipt:timedRefresh(3000);'>
<form id='frmMain' name='frmMain' action='' method='POST'>
<div align='center'><img src='http://images.crucial.com/wcsstore/CrucialSAS/images/scanner-loading.jpg' class='boxborder'></div>
<input type='hidden' name='ScanData' value=''><input type='hidden' name='ScanType' value='E'><input type='hidden' name='ScanStatus' value='E'>
<input type='hidden' name='appName' value='CrucialScan.exe'>
<input type='hidden' name='ComputerType' value='PC'>

Hi,
It has two slots therefore 32GB is out of picture. It actually supports 16GB, but on some machines which have 24GB of SSD for Intel RST, they only support 12GB. Sounds like your machine has Intel RST therefore it is very safe to use 12GB (8GB + 4GB) of RAM. Have you run the above tool yet ?
Regards.
