I have a ProBook 4520s.
I followed this thread and bought the following RAM for my laptop:
4 Go
DRAM
DDR3 SDRAM
SO DIMM 204 broches
1333 MHz ( PC3-10600 )
CL9
NON ECC
512 x 64 X8
1.5 V
Here is the link
The problem:
During power up, my laptop starts correctly until reaching the windows loading logo (Win7 Pro 64bit) and then restarts.
I tried I live Mint Linux one a USB drive, linux also restarts during power up.
In the BIOS, i can see that the laptop recognizes the added memory. (6G total 4G new + 2G old)
If I remove the added memory and leave the old one, the laptop starts normaly
If I leave only the new memory, the laptop restarts exaclty like before (restarts after win7 starts to load)
Hope you can help !
Thanks
PS: I forgot to mention the memory I already have. Its from Micron, here is the info and the link
2 Go DDR3 SDRAM 204-pin 1333 MT/s CL = 9 Non ECC 256 Meg x 8 1.5V

Are you using 4520s? I have 4520s (originally with 3gb ram - 2 + 1) and i can only install 2x2gb, 1x4gb or 2x4gb. When i've tried 4gb + 2gb it only see 4gb of ram (windows 8.1 x64). Where can be issue? it depends of hardware config?
i have F.21 bios.
I've bought 4gb ram module and I can only use it as desktop decoration 😞
Can anyone help???

Sorry for the bump. I had this exact problem. This is also addressed in another thread: "Re: HP Probook 4520s Memory upgrade to 8GB (2x4GB) Corsair Unsuccessful and Failed".
2x4GB Sticks / 8GB kits that are unsuccessful:
- Mushkin 996647
- Mushkin 997066
- Corsair CMSO8GX3M2A1333C9
Successful:
- G.Skill F3-10666cl9d-8gbsq
At the time of this posting, the only difference between working an non-working ones are how the RAM is laid out on the module. Does your RAM have 8 chips per stick, or 16?
